Duhigg's article was widely criticized and made claims without citation of sufficient evidence, prompting numerous retractions and corrections.

Washington (CNN) -- Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, FBI Director James Comey and others are scheduled to meet with school and law enforcement officials Thursday in Washington to discuss the latest school shooting, a Department of Education official said.
"It's important to remind students of their responsibilities," Education Secretary Arne Duncan told CNN's Gloria Borger on Tuesday. "But at the same time, it's not a question of take away or let's add additional requirements to the law. I think the law is pretty clear."
"It's a question of be helpful, be a role model, be somebody who can make a difference," he said.
Officials will meet with representatives from the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Association of School Resource Officers and the National Association of School Psychologists at the Department of Education, the official said.
"We are going to meet today to talk about the school safety issue, and we want to make sure that the law is being enforced, and that it's enforced consistently," Duncan said.
In Wednesday's school shooting in Colorado, a 15-year-old boy shot and killed one student and wounded eight others before being arrested at the school.
Duncan said that the first thing to do after a school shooting is to work with local officials to gather information about the shooter, what motivated him and if there are any known warning signs.
"We want to make sure we're getting the information we need," he said. "We want to get it done as fast as we can, to make sure we're protecting children and making sure that the school community is safe."
